Lord Carey calls for controlled migration

Lord Carey is concerned about the levels of immigration to the UK

The former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey, has said that migration “threatens the DNA of our nation.”

Writing in today’s Times, Lord Carey, who was born and raised in Barking, says that he supports Balanced Migration’s calls “on the leading political parties to make manifesto commitments to prevent the UK population reaching 70 million, which is projected in official figures by 2029.”

He also said that he would like to see immigration “return to the levels of the early 1990s”, about 40,000, compared with 163,000 in 2008. He added that if failed to do so Britain risks “seriously damaging to the future harmony of our society.”

Lord Carey also conceded that the rise of the BNP has a direct link to the bona fide concerns of ordinary people surrounding the issue of immigration. He said the failure to have a rational debate on mass migration that has often “degenerated into name-calling and charges of racism” has allowed parties like the BNP to “exploit genuine concerns about both overpopulation and the ability of this nation to integrate new communities whose values are sometimes very different, even antithetical, to our own.”

The Daily Telegraph also report that Lord Carey has attacked the Church of England for being “too soft” and allow people to “walk over them” to avoid upsetting people.

“I think we need a tougher Church. We Christians are very often so soft that we allow other people to walk over us and we are not as tough in what we want, in expressing our beliefs, because we do not want to upset other people.

“We have got to be more outspoken.”

Lord Carey’s remarks are like a breath of fresh air on the debate concerning immigration.

As a former Archbishop of Canterbury, a senior figure in the Establishment and a respected independent voice, his words should be listened to by the mainstream parties, who have been silent on this issue for too long. We hope that after his intervention, in the run up to the General Election, Britain can finally have a rational debate on this very serious and important issue.

  1. WTF says:

    Has he joined the BNP?

No, he like a lot of the others, do a BNP soundbite in the hope of attracting the voters back to the mainstream parties.

This talk of a cap is nonsense, as a lot of immigrants tend to have large families & the population will continue to rise.
Will they put economic disincentives in the way of having large families?

Different cultures can not co-exist alongside one another, thats why we have such things as “nations”

A cap on immigration is no good what so ever and it will not work. The door needs to be closed and all illegals sent back to their countries of origin. Once the door is closed we can then somehow tackle the demographics time bomb from large immigrant families.

our “brilliant” PM wants to increase our population from 22 million to 35 million. I bet we do not get a say on the composition of our migrants. We need to bring back the white Australia policy, as Chinese have replaced British as the #1 source of migrants… for the first time in 222 years.

  5. WTF says:

It is odd that most white western countries seem to be very keen on the mass immigration of non whites.

    @ WTF…

Most western GOVERNMENTS are keen on mass non-white immigration.

The governments don’t care about the country or it’s people!

  7. WTF says:

Yes it is true that governments seem keen on the non white mass immigration issue, the voters never got to say whether they approve or not.
Hopefully voters will vote on this issue this year & make their views known.
They also seem keen on the global picture not the national one & seem to want to sacrifice the nation states to some sort of global infrastructure regardless of what normal people want.
Global warming/climate change seems a perfect vehicle for this.

    WTF
those with their hands on power in the western world, either believe, or have been browbeaten into believing, that we, whitey, owe the third world something. I think they believe it has to do with atonement for imagined sins of colonialism

But it is amazing that this “atonement” seems to affect all western governments at the same time.

Despite unemployment & talk of controlling immigration & illegal immigrants being found on the 2012 Olympic site at Stratford, the government is still talking about bringing in yet more “Skilled workers” to work on the site!
No doubt accompanied by large families & allowed to stay beyond 2012.

Rather than have mass immigration into our land , the west should do what britain did in the 1900s, go into their lands, set up administration etc and train the natives to look after their own affairs, with the backup of a police force and army to ensure no wars break out. That would solve the problem. Everything comes round. Look at Rhodesia for instance.

If that is what it takes so be it,but it did not fail. Take India for example. It is not christian but they are a God fearing nation and have a good standing in the world today.

Sam, you must have controlled immigration, it is common sense. My gripe is not with families from the east that have been here since say 1900 but the flood, illegal flood coming in daily, they then breed and breed and at the rate those guys breed whitey is gone by 2060.

What would nb’s response be if Griffin stated that immigration threatened the DNA of Britain?

Another example of the rank hypocricy of nb and the rest of the cowardly pc brigade. At least Griffin has the guts to speak his mind!
