BNP are allowed on Newcastle uni campus
Before the Christmas holidays, Newcastle’s Student Union voted in favour of allowing the BNP to have a political presence on its campus. This means a BNP university society and Voice of Freedom sellers around the student union.
Many are horrified by the decision. Understandably. But wrongly.
People who argue for “no platform” and “oxygen of publicity” should remember that in the age of Google, Facebook and Twitter the BNP don’t need our permission to speak. They can address whoever they want, whenever they want. ”No platform”/”No oxygen” has allowed them to define themselves as moderate patriots when in fact they are ultra-nationalists and socialists who would put Britain’s national interest at risk.
Organisations that advocate “No platform”/”No oxygen” should have more faith in Britain and liberal democratic values.
Maurice Cousins.

Pack your bags James you’re of to prison to join the rest of your ilk,I hope the younger generation WILL hold you Torys for treason along with the Reds, don’tbother wearing a tie as a noose will fit nicely,YOU TRAITORS.God save the Queen and Country.Vote the Partiots Party.

socialist needs to prefixed with nationalist in order to clarify the mode of political operation the BNP endorse, and so as not to contribute to the lousy ‘are they left, are they right’ debate.

Well well I never thought I would see the day that a student campus would allow that, as they’re usually hot beds of left wing thought!
It shows thing have changed or are changing.
I think a lot of BNP types like me are neither “ultra-nationalists and socialists” in fact we are the people on the street not in an ivory tower.

NICK Griffin today challenged Witney MP David Cameron as the debate over the BNP leader’s Question Time appearance rumbled on.
Mr Griffin questioned whether the Tory leader would “disassociate” himself from the protests outside Television Centre last night after Mr Cameron said he backed the anti-fascist campaign against the BNP leader.
A spokesman for the Tory Party leader said he had no intention of responding.
Come on uaf Dave and the ‘we used to be tories’, have more faith in the liberal democratic people.

I am surprised that the BNP haven’t said something about this “victory”, it has been kept low key?

I’m at Hull uni – the BNP are banned here. There was no evidence of BNP activity, and the campaign to ban them was run by the usual Marxist (no exaggeration), ‘think they’re Che’ brigade. It was pretty pathetic really, basically so the then President of the Union could put it down on her CV, and so that the communists (and there are a lot of them in Hull) could get one over on an imaginary enemy.
I don’t support the BNP, I’m a Tory, but because I objected to banning them I was labelled a racist, etc. I didn’t bother complaining to the SU, because it’s literally infested with lefty’s to the point where it’s become a young Labour talking shop.

I AGREE !!
Organisations like The British Legion ? And the Conservative Party ?
See article on this very site , stating , inter alia :
1)”A Bedfordshire branch of the RBL has refused a local BNP meeting from taking place at its premises.”
AND :
2)Leighton’s local Conservative MP Andrew Selous, who also a member of the club, discovered the real identity of the group and stepped in to ask the Legion to cancel the date.
Could that be called a “NO PLATFORM” policy ? Why , I think it could be !
So, let’s hope a Tory website can get this message through to a Tory MP.

“in the age of Google, Facebook and Twitter the BNP don’t need our permission to speak.”
So what you are saying is that if it wasn’t for the internet we would have to seek your permission to speak?
How arrogant!!!

McCarthyism in reverse. To ban a legitimate political party because one objects to the sentiment espoused, reveals these immature undergraduates to be undemocratic, hypocrits

I remember under Thatcher that an actor had to lip sync (badly) Martin McGuinness & Gerry Adams when they were interviewed on TV, it denied them the oxygen of publicity apparently!

Sam, perhaps you are too young to remember. The Sinn Fein were not banned. It is from such innaccuracies that popular (nonsensical) history is born, such as Cromwell marching all over the island of Ireland, murdering villages etc.
As Aussie Al points out, they refused to take their seats in Parliament, (they accepted their wages though).
