There is Nothing British about misogyny

There is nothing British about sexism, but the BNP’s attitude remains anti feminist and out of date.

The BNP is primarily concerned about race – what it terms as “preserving the indigenous population of Britain”. But it is also opposed to other forms of equality, such as gender.

From Enlightenment thinkers like John Stuart Mill to the Suffragettes, Britain is proud of its historical role in liberating women. We may have been a little slow to accept votes for women and property ownership laws, but Britain can say hand on heart that it has led the fight in promoting women’s rights.

The BNP claims – in the same way that it says having non-white members it is not a racist party – that because it has female candidates it is not anti-women.

The BNP’s Mini Manifesto says – among other things – it wants to:

  1. Implement a regressive taxation system that will re-establish women as dependents of their husbands.
  2. Repeal protection of witnesses in rape cases and reform family law to benefit men.
  3. Remove the right to choose to have an abortion.

Page 7 of the Manifesto says:

“Divorce and family laws and maintenance arrangements discriminate against men, and innocent men who are falsely accused of rape have their lives ruined while their lying accusers cannot even be named.”

Nick Griffin has said he doesn’t recognise womens rights, describing claims for equal rights between men and women as “feminist poison”.

The BNP has promoted misogynists.

In August 2005 Nick Eriksen – a former BNP candidate for the London Assembly – described rape as a “myth” and said “some women are like gongs they need to be struck regularly”. He wrote on his blog:

“I’ve never understood why so many men have allowed themselves to be brainwashed by the feminazi myth machine into believing that rape is such a serious crime… Rape is simply sex. Women enjoy sex, so rape cannot be such a terrible physical ordeal.

To suggest that rape, when conducted without violence, is a serious crime is like suggesting force-feeding a woman chocolate cake is a heinous offence.

A woman would be more inconvenienced by having her handbag snatched”

Eriksen was quickly removed from his post to prevent further embarrassment.

Nick Griffin will often tap into British pride about gender equality and point to extreme versions of Islam and their treatment of women. When asked about Islam, he told the Question Time audience:

“Because it treats women as second class citizens, because it says that a woman victim of rape should be stone to death for adultery … it doesn’t fit in with the way British society, free speech, democracy and equal rights for women.”

Griffin, however, applies a different value system when it comes to his members who write crude and hate-filled things about women.

In August 2009 Lee Barnes – the party’s Legal Director – wrote that “modern” women are “self loathing”, “sexless” and “androgynous” monstrosities. He said:

She is a monster, a sexless polymorphous perversion of nature.”

In a September 2008 blog post Barnes wrote an article that drew a moral equivalence between British soldiers and Nazi SS soldiers. He also called Rebecca Wade – former editor of The Sun – whose paper expose a ceremony in Austria as a neo-Nazi gathering for former members of the SS. He called Ms Wade a “Red bitch” and wrote:

“Leave the old men of Germany alone you Red Bitch.”

There is nothing British about hindering women’s rights and tolerating sexism and misogynism.

If the alleged victim cannot be named (which is fair) , then the accused ought to be afforded similar anonymity.
One thing that strikes me about rape cases : as it has often been claimed that a high number of victims know their assailants , then identifying the accused MIGHT make it easier to deduce the identity of the victim.

“3.Remove the right to choose to have an abortion”

Maybe this would attract the Catholic vote ?
That’s sound policy : nobody should have the right to destroy a life so casually , UNLESS the mother’s health is endangered.
Yes , I know that’s a whole different debate with a lot of “but what ifs” , but it’s my view and I am sticking to it.
    ===========================================================

Nick Eriksen ? A disgusting comment – which as you say , led to the BNP throwing him out.
So clearly , the party DOES NOT tolerate such views , does it ?

To besmirch the BNP by references to Eriksen’s stance is akin to criticising the Tories for racism AFTER Heath ditched Enoch Powell.
Whether or not one supported Powell is irrelevant : it’s the logic and the principle of attacking a party for the views of one person , when the party has rejected such views.

Ooohhhh , just saw ARMYBNP’S post : yes please – let’s hear the deputy chairman’s view on the status of females.

I wondered when you’d get round to this…

You clearly have no concept of muslim values!

You are the snivelling type of do-gooders who would rather see a woman take a blokes job even though she aint up to it physically!

Call me old fashioned, but I believe women should be at home looking after the kids whilst the man provides, in that environment family breakdown is less likely!

The type of family you promote has

A: both parents working devoting little time to the child

B: one parent living off state handouts

Women and men are not equal, both possess unique qualities

Feminists are in the same box as Jewish supremacists and men who follow Islam. As a white straight British male I’m hated by all three. Goyim, infidel and man.
What benefits do men hating women, goy hating jews and infidel hating muslims bring to a British society? If the tories want to pander to these people its down to them, i think most people have had a gut full of the noisey minority rule.

Peter, you say that you don’t go down to vote for a revolution. Why not? What we need is a bloodless revolution to get us out of this mess that the three main (and corrupt) parties have got us into. I would vote for anyone who will get us out of this but time and time again liblabcon and proved that they are untrustworthy. The BNP are honest about what they are about thats why they get so much stick from the ruling elite and thier lackys. Red Ken once said “if voting changed anything, they’ed abolish it” How true.
Sam Pauli (below) What are you on about? Who’s hateing? who’s denying what? and who’s God?

    @Wotan,

I believe “revolutionary zeal” to be one of humankind’s greatest follies. I recognise that you call for a “bloodless revolution”, but I don’t believe they ever are, Wotan.

I disagree with you very strongly when you say “the BNP are honest about what they’re about”. I refer here to the BNP leadership rather than the wider membership.

I think the BNP’s policies are only as radical as the leaders feel they can get away with in the current electoral climate. I believe the real political views of people like Griffin, Brons, Collett and Barnes to be far more extreme than they let on. Their tactics, not policies, remind me of groups like the Militant Tendency from the 80s. They cynically position themselves towards the middle ground of British politics to win supporters, only to later lead them to the extremes.

Of course, in our democracy you are able to vote for whoever you like and you may be one of the few to waste their vote on the BNP in May. I only ask you to think about this. Are you really sure that Griffin isn’t taking you for a ride?

I feel UKIP are different and I think they say what they really believe. I don’t agree with their policies at all but I have no reason to be suspicious of their motives.

@Peter. I agree with you when you say things about Collet but the other three seem decent hardworking patriots and I have no hard evidence to suggest otherwise and I don’t think we can be lead to anymore extreams than to be lied to and led to war on the basis of supposed WMD, Do you?. Who are the extreamists? Blair/Bush/Brown/Cammeron et al have done nothing but lie to us with our country slowly sinking. I dont want a 4th reich but I do want a country that I and my family can feel safe in and to do this, I feel is a revolution in politics is needed. MP’s have become self-serving, greedy and uncaring and I’m sick of it. As for Revoluntionary Zeal being humankinds folly. Hasn’t mankind as we know it been built on Revolutionary actions? People bend over backwards for the revolutionary actions of the ANC or Zanu PF. Why? Because it’s trendy and PC to do so. Even if it’s detramental to all, as both of them have been. You mention ukip, as with this site it’s just a tool of the tories and a pressure valve. They were a “one stop shop” and even that’s now been compramised by there thieving, greedy, selfserving MEP’s. Thats why there membership and votes are spirraling
