Garry Bushell suspends patronage over SOTS’s links to BNP

Bull dog

TV journalist and patriotism campaigner Garry Bushell has suspended his patronage of Soldiers off the Street, the BNP-linked astro-turf organisation, because of his concerns about their links to racists and extremists.

Bushell, a popular TV critic, became a patron of  Bill Murray’s organisation after a Facebook exchange with Murray and his name was placed on the SOTS website. Yesterday Bushell raised questions on his blog about  SOTS’s  links to the BNP and has publicly distanced himself from the organisation until concerns are answered:-

“I have asked them to remove my name as patron until these allegations can be properly investigated, and SOTS disassociate themselves publicly from the far-Right. Any decent person would sympathise with the organisation’s stated aims. No decent person would wish to associate with covert extremists.”

We agree.

From the very beginning, when we first exposed SOTS’s  links to the BNP, Nothing British said that its stated objectives of helping homeless veterans was a ”noble cause”. But, as with Garry Bushell, we have had serious concerns about its hidden agenda.

We are also concerned about SOTS being part of a wider BNP strategy to manipulate the good will shown towards the Armed Forces and turn it into political capital to promote their division and extremism. (Please read our Stolen Valour report for further information).

Post Script

At time of posting, SOTS have yet to carry out Bushell’s polite request to remove any mention of their association with him from their website.

      Dear Sirs

Further to our brief telephone conversation, this is to confirm that Mr. Bill Murray resigned from the British National Party at the end of August last year, and fulfilled his obligations as a former official and ceased all involvement by the end of September. He was offered a donation to Soldiers Off The Street either from the BNP or by me from my Constituency Good Causes Fund, and turned down both in order to emphasise the totally non-political nature of SOTS.
SOTS and Mr Murray are, and will remain, completely independent from the British National Party and any or all of its associated organisations.

      Yours faithfully
      Nick Griffin

Just because a ex-BNP member is running a charity for our brave soldiers who find themselves homeless due to mental health problems and this pathetic site think there is some hidden agenda. Bit of a nerve coming from tories considering what they have done to this country when they have been in power.

Who is Gary Bushell anyway, is he as popular as nothing British say he is. I have never heard of him. They keep on wheeling out these non entities like andy mcnab and now some z list person.
