Public are shocked by ‘bullying’ remarks made by BNP official

The news that Welsh police are investigating a BNP official over threatening remarks made to a Labour parliamentarian has deeply shocked British voters.

Nothing British believes that Lord Elton, a former Northern Ireland and Home Office minister under Margaret Thatcher, reflects the feelings of voters when he condemned the ugly threats made by Roger Phillips to Labour’s Baroness Uddin on his Facebook account as the “language of bullies”.

Lord Elton exclusively told NB:

“Whatever criticisms might be levelled against anyone in their parliamentary life, this kind of vile abuse is intolerable. There is nothing British about it. You can tell a lot about a political party by the language it uses.  This is the language of bullies. Those who use it must expect to be treated as such”.

The public have every right to be angry about the scandals that have hit Westminster over the last year – it is indefensible and has badly damaged the parliamentary system. But the BNP are exploiting the legitimate anger over expenses and using it as a pretext for its racism, authoritarianism and thuggishness: British voters are repulsed by this brand of cynical politics.

I should think there were millions of British voters shouting abuse at the TV when she and others appeared. British voters are repulsed by the greed and lies of Westminster, get out more and you’ll see it for yourself.

A written death threat from Phillips to the Baroness is different from a spontaneous objection at home to news on a TV screen.

The greed and lies of some in Westminster are bad enough, but threats from a senior offical of a political party, the BNP, is even worse.

An off-the cuff remark, in regard to the immoral corruption of the foreign Baroness, hardly constitutes a threat against the said corrupt politician.

Now, the state and Tory party sanctioned violence of the UAF, is real and perpetrated violence. Not a squeak from Maurice on this though.

      @Jim,

I’ve said it quite a few times to other BNP posters on this site but you may not have seen the replies.

I’ll be voting for a traditional social democratic party in May. I like elements, but not the entirety, of Labour, the Lib Dems and the Greens. I’m what they call centre-left.

And no, I do not think anyone of them is perfect. And yes, I am angry about the expenses scandal. And yes, I think our political representatives should be drawn from a wider socio-economic base – more bus drivers, nurses and teachers and fewer lawyers. And no, I didn’t like the wars.

But I want to see democratic renewal in the next parliamentary term – I do not want to see some form of tribal revolution.

I’ve yet to decide exactly who I’ll vote for – I await leaflets, hustings and the debates to come.

    hello peter.
one reason for voting bnp is because people see what is going on.in my area of coventry which has had problems for decades, which has been caused by white people.chaves lay abouts thieves and down right lazy gits.so what is the answer…i would have thought jobs, decent education, affordable housing and rents.personally i would almost abolish welfare for the fit and healthy.you work or go hungry.you watch how many of the farms around here would have local people picking the crops instead of albainians.i don’t mean to pick on one race but allot of our people need a kick up the arse instead of listening to their blag.now i dont think that this is unreasonable, its how things use to work.
so what is coventry,s answer to the problem of willenhall.
100,s of somalis.one of the most dangerous countries on earth.
no doubt you think they are enriching us.and by the way i saw your silly little list about how multiculturalism has enriched us with names like bill morris and some cricketers and someone who started the mobo awards.

    • Peter says:

      @Dave,

You articulate a hard-nosed individualism as an answer to the problems of inner-cities (cutting off the dole and letting everyone fend for themselves) – which I think has more in line with UKIP policy than the BNP. It’s certainly a more logical policy than the BNP’s and I think polling data shows that. UKIP regularly outpolls the BNP and people take them more seriously.

It’s too harsh for me Dave. I’m centre-left. I still believe more in the helping hand than the clenched fist.

I think most BNP members have similar “right-wing” views to you. The problem for the BNP is that the people you slag off for being lazy, work-shy and anti-social are exactly the people most likely to vote BNP!

Griffin has lurched desperately to the left in a bid to consolidate this working class support. He plans to nationalise everything in order to give jobs to white people – who’s going to pay for that Dave? You are with your taxes!

He wants to isolate Britain from the world economy with protectionism and a retreat from international agreements – a sure fire way of putting up prices and increasing unemployment. Who’s going to pick up the tab Dave? You, with your taxes.

You probably think there are too many council schemes doing non-jobs promoting this and that and you may wonder why you are paying for it. Griffin will have more schemes than the old Lambeth Council if he ever got in Dave – and he’d tax you for it. Look at the way he wastes members’ money in the BNP. Look at the huge waste of money (never his money Dave – remember that!) at the High Court on a case he was always going to lose. Look at all the flunkies he has on the payroll – and he’s nowhere near power!

As for Bill Morris – I think anyone who has negotiated and defended decent pay for British working people has literally enriched us. People have gone home with more cash at the end of the week due to people like Morris. There will be plenty of working people relaxing on pensions tonight – due to Union men like Morris. We could do with a few more, and we could do with recognising their contribution.

The problem of rubbish jobs and rubbish pay has more to do with the lack of unions than Johnny Foreigner, in my opinion.

Dave, what amazes me is your faith that the BNP can deliver on all the things you list. They have not even delivered last year’s accounts properly yet, despite the ever-increasing fines!
They are forever falling out with one another resulting in all sorts of revelations such as one faction publishing the secret membership list, and others actively working against the Party.
The BNP is big on posturing and promises, but in reality it is a seedy little party run by seedy little people who seem to be out for what they can get.
May I ask what makes you believe that the BNP will actually fulfil any of its promises to the electorate? Why do you have such blind faith?

Don’t be so crass Peter. The main aim of employers since the late 17th century has been to get unit costs down and they have always done it by importing labour. It has now been done on a scale so huge as to be unsustainable and not only that but since we now have only a very small manufacturing base many incomers are not even needed to sustain industry.

They are nothing, they have always been nothing, they will always be nothing.

    An irritation, nothing more.

The electorate have yet to scrutinise the credentials of many of these BNP “candidates”.

They will be found, in the main, sadly lacking in the skills, experience and general levels of intelligence required to be an elected representative.

A very great many will have unsavoury opinions and pasts.

As the election campaign starts and sensible minds focus on the economy the BNP will be left howling about their obsessions on the fringes of political life. I expect the BNP to actually poll about 2% nationwide.

    @MLJ,

I’m bothered because I want to see the BNP lose in May.

I want the BNP to lose because I can’t stand the way you talk and think about foreign people. I like foreigners and I will stick up for them.

I honestly believe you don’t know what you are talking about. You do not know people with different coloured skin. You deal in the most ridiculous stereotypes.

I lived abroad for a few years and I was always treated well – exceptionally well – and it changed the way I think about foreigners for ever.

Having had the opportunity to travel, to work abroad and learn other languages changed my life for the better. That’s just on a social and personal level.

We will need our next few generations of kids to be outward looking, good at foreign languages, willing to learn from and compete with the world’s brightest and best. We’ll need good links with China, India, the USA and others – and we’ll need to deal with people of all colours and cultures. We can’t be held back by the ignorance of Griffin and his mediocrities. He’d lead us into a new Dark Ages – isolated, impoverished and backward.

Not challenging the stupidity of the BNP and their wacko ideas from the fascist underworld isn’t an option for anyone concerned about the future of this country.

The whinging, the conspiracies, the stupid and cruel racism, the bullying and thuggery of the BNP must be exposed and countered by all democrats.

You can blame the government for your problems, you can blame the foreigners, you can blame the Jews, Princess. But blame and whinging won’t make anything better – it never does.

Are you in trade-unionised work? Look for it Princess because it is always better paid with better conditions etc. Have you made the most of the educational opportunities that there are? Getting qualified is the route to getting better paid work. Are you doing any useful voluntary work that would help you improve your lot in the long run?

Life isn’t easy when you are skint – but you’ve got to fight your way out of problems. And the best way to fight is to use your brain.

I’m sorry you can’t afford to buy your own house – I can’t and likewise never will be able to.

We need council houses / housing association places – hundreds of thousands of them yet only build hundreds are being built.

We need more politicians from poorer backgrounds in Parliament who understand these things – Labour used to select dozens and dozens of blue-collar workers for parliamentary seats. Now all the parties concentrate on sending wealthy people to parliament. I’m not slagging them all off – we need business people and lawyers there – but we need nurses, single-mums, and dinner-ladies too. They are out of touch in parliament – but we don’t need a revolution to put things right.

We also need thriving private businesses Princess – the Government can’t do it all. We need freedom of movement of capital, labour and ideas to ensure successful businesses in today’s world. Workers need to be protected from the excesses of capitalism by being in orgainsed unions.

In my opinion we need a “mixed economy”, a vibrant social democratic political system with representatives from all walks of life. We need to be outward-looking, educated, humane and positive about the future.

    We don’t need the BNP.
