Time to hold Nick Griffin and BNP candidates to account

Nazi salute

Mark Onion - BNP council candidate in Thurrock

Mark Onion is the BNP candidate fighting the Orsett Ward in Thurrock’s council elections on May 6th. This picture is taken from his Facebook page and features the candidate offering a Nazi salute while wearing aHelp for Heroes wristband. Onion has said on his Facebook page that he finds films about the Holocaust and Slave Trade “amusing and funny”. He lists “Mein Kampf” and the “Final Solution” as his favourite books. He has publicly joked about violence and rape against women amongst friends on his Facebook wall.

Nick Griffin MEP has protested time and again that BNP supporters are unfairly labelled as bigots. He says the BNP is no longer racist. He says he doesn’t support misogynistic sentiments. He claims the BNP is no longer anti-Semitic or sympathetic towards the Nazis.

And yet, time and again, BNP activists are exposed for holding intolerant and racist views. It would still be unfair to suggest everyone who supports the BNP is racist, but you don’t have to dig too deep before you discover an unhealthy amount of support for values that are inimical to the British way of doing things.

If mainstream candidates can be sacked for saying revolting things about the Queen or joking that they prefer bananas harvested by slaves, then it is perfectly reasonable to expect Griffin to fire a BNP candidate with explicit Nazi sympathies, who jokes about rape and violence against women and who finds films about crimes against humanity “funny and amusing”.

The neo-fascist BNP now hold 2 MEPs, nearly 1 million votes, 50 councillors and 1 Assembly Member in London. It is, therefore, the duty of voters to hold Griffin and the BNP to account.

When contacted by Nothing British Onions declined to comment or defend his actions. Unless a reasonable explanation can be found, this looks very bad for Griffin’s claims to have modernised the BNP and move them on from their Nazi past.

We therefore call on Nick Griffin to stop dithering on the entrenched racism within the BNP. If Mark Onion cannot account for this vile image, he should be sacked as his council candidate in Thurrock.

Keep up the excellent work NB!

You are going to be very busy over the next few weeks as there will be dozens of similar BNP extremists and weirdos lurking on ballot papers all over the country. It seems that absolutely anyone willing to stand for the BNP has been nominated for election and as we all know – talent doesn’t run deep in the BNP.

    • WTF says:

Ah Peter, it is UKIP “talent”!

By the way to answer an earlier dig of yours, which I can’t post in the correct place, is I am well aware a year or more before NB ran the Doiminic Carman piece on April’s Fools Day (Oh the irony of that!) that he was writing an autobiography about Nick Griffin, I have seen some of the tapes & read extracts, which is why I made the accusation of him being obsessed by Nick Griffin in an unhealthy way.

Anything Dominic says now about Nick is either very old or secondhand.
Has he done anything since this “Autobiography” that doesn’t involve mentioning Nick Griffin?
Did it even make the bestseller lists?

Will Dominic get any votes in Barking by being so one track?
What else can he offer the public except his book & “YouTube” videos?

If you think Nick is weird, then do you think a “Fly on the wall”, “Warts & all” look at Tony Blair or Gordon Brown etc would be much better?
      I seriously doubt it!

Anyway you are missing the point, probably deliberately, about why I or anybody supports the BNP.
That has been explained at inordinate length elsewhere on this site.

This is an elaborate hoax, either the facebook page is a doppelganger by the far left, or the actual candidate is a plant by the far left to disrupt the run up to elections…
I would thoroughly check this one out if I were you.

Perhaps not far left, but it will certainly help his UKIP aunt..

“Mark Onions appeared out of the blue a short while ago and became very active,” Ms Colgate said.

“We never dreamed for a minute that his aunt was the UKIP candidate standing against us, and he gained our confidence enough to volunteer to be our candidate in the local ward against his aunt.

“When we discovered the link, our suspicions were alerted that something was amiss.

“Further research showed that he had posed for prank pictures in pubs and had written things on the Internet which could be used against the BNP, and Mr Onions was formally expelled from the party on Tuesday 13 April,” she continued.

“Unfortunately we discovered the deception too late to get his name off the ballot paper, but the public should be aware that Mr Onions is not a member of the BNP and has no official backing,” Ms Colgate concluded.

  4. WTF says:

I have to say I have never heard of him & assuming this is true, I wouldn’t vote for him as an individual.
He couldn’t be taken seriously on the face of that.

However I have met both the candidates for Chelmsford & Brentwood who both come across as perfectly respectable & I would & will vote for them at any opportunity.

  5. Another non story i’m afraid chaps. Mr Onion has been sacked from the BNP after we found out he was a UKIP mole who joined just to discredit the party. The ward he was standing in is the same ward where his Aunty is standing for UKIP. He was asked to join the BNP so that he could post rubbish on the internet about us hoping sites like this would try and use it against us.
So “Nothing British”, you have nothing to get excited about as he certainly isn’t a BNP patriot.

Unfortunately for the Corshamcrusader I phoned Thurrock council who confirmed Onion had been selected as the BNP candidate.

I also phoned Onion himself who also confirmed he had been selected.

I think you’ll find that this guy has already been sacked, although it’s too late to remove his name from the list of candidates

I enjoyed reading the article, and look forward to your update now that this ‘BNP candidate’ has been exposed as having strong links to the local UKIP candidate, who turns out to be his aunt.

What a strange game politics is.

At least the BNP takes action when it finds someone like this, which is more than can be said for the Labour and Conservative parties.. where it seems they end up as peers!

  9. Barbara says:

Sacked or not, who cares? The point is the error ofjudgement in accepting him as a candidate in the first place.
Is the BNP so inept it does not know those it is putting forth as candidates?
Apparently not, and now the slapstick rush to damage control.
Advice to the BNP: you should know your Onions.

Maurice knows that the UKIP mole had been rumbled by the BNP before this sad site published this nonsense.

Barbara, I wonder if the conservative party should have checked out these 72 conservative councillors before letting them stand for election. Advice to Barbara – people who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

This picture was taken two years ago. Mr Onions various Facebook accounts have had comments left by a number of BNP activists over a number of years so this photo and Mr Onions views are not a surprise to anyone in the BNP.

A quick check of the various leaked BNP membership list would confirm if Mr Onion is a recent recruit or not.

I understand there are other photos of Mr Onion posing with high profile BNP members at the same pub event back in 2008.

The so called ’sacking’ and outing as a so called UKIP ‘mole’ is nothing more than a hasty damage limitation excercise.

Just a few weeks ago Dave Strickson the Thurruck BNP organiser said

“There will be some very interesting battles this year and one that immediately springs to mind is Orsett. Our candidate, Mark O’nion, is a fine young lad who has lived in the area all his life. From a very respectable family in Orsett, Mark is up against another family member. His aunt, Marie Andrews, is standing for UKIP.”
