Nick Griffin starts new European Parliament term with attack on Turkey over Cyprus
Nick Griffin has responded to an open letter from Antigoni Papadopoulou MEP, Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, in which she raised the issue of Turkish war crimes during the invasion and occupation of Cyprus.
Griffin said that he wanted to expose Turkish “barbarism” and its record of “ethnic cleansing” in Northern Cyprus.
He went on to say: “This is just one more reason why there can be no place for Turkey within the European Union.”
Nick Griffin is right to raise the issue about Turkey’s cruel involvement in Northern Cyprus, but it sits at odds with his non-interventionist, national interest foreign policy.
Might this be an example of Nick Griffin trying to soften his image? Or is he trying to build broader coalitions within the EU Parliament? Our guess is that this is a play to the anti-Turkish sentiment amongst Europe’s neo-fascists, but particularly in Germany (NDP).

“Jack Straw will take on Nick Griffin”, says Cabinet
The Cabinet has agreed that Jack Straw MP should face Nick Griffin on BBC’s QT.
The decision was disclosed yesterday by Gordon Brown in an interview with Radio City in Liverpool. He said: “I’m not afraid of debating anybody. We have to expose what they are about.”
We believe that this is a positive step forward in the battle against the BNP. Only by taking them head on will you be able to defeat them. Let’s hope all the mainstream parties don’t skate around the issues.

TUC calls for ban on BNP teachers
After yesterday’s announcement by union bosses to call for a ban of BNP members from the public sector, more details have emerged from their conference.
The TUC said urgent talks should be held with the government about the incompatibility of BNP membership and jobs in teaching, the NHS and other parts of the public sector.
As we have already said, we do not believe in legislating against legitimate political parties, however distasteful, and members of the BNP have an equal right to work in the public sector so long as the promote social cohesion and not division.
TUC should spend more time addressing the issues that drive people into the hands of extremists instead of wasting time on media grandstanding.

I take issue that “Nick Griffin is right to raise the issue about Turkey’s cruel involvement in Northern Cyprus, but it sits at odds with his non-interventionist, national interest foreign policy”.
It is Mr Griffin’s policy to make one skin coulour/ethnicity/culture superior to another. In the case of Cyprus, it is perfectly true that many innocent Greek Cypriots were murdered during the invasion, but we should not forget the innocent Turkish Cypriot, murdered and forced from their homes prior to the invasion in 1974.
In his book “The Way the Wind Blows” former British Prime Minister, Sir Alec Douglas-Home said “I was convinced that if Makarios could not bring himself to treat the Turkish Cypriots as human beings he was inviting the invasion and partition of the island.”
17th February 1964 the Washington Post reported that Greek Cypriot fanatics appear bent on a policy of genocide.”
On 28th December 1963 the Daily Express reported: “We went tonight into the Turkish Cypriot Quarter of Nicosia in which 200 to 300 people had been slaughtered in the last five days. We were the first Western reporters there and we have seen sights too frightful to be described in print … horror so extreme that the people seemed stunned beyond tears.”
If Turkey should be excluded from the EU because of War Crimes, then so should many countries…

Sam Drury said: “It is Mr Griffin’s policy to make one skin coulour/ethnicity/culture superior to another.”
I believe this to be a lie, perhaps Mr Drury can reproduce the policy here?
BNP policy is that all peoples everywhere should enjoy the same rights and freedoms. The BNP are consistently anti-racist, they assert that what all the other parties agree is right and proper for non-European peoples, namely that they are entitled to control their homelands in their own interests, is a vital right that even White folks should enjoy.
Mr Drury, ask your local Lib/Lab/Con politician if he thinks “Israel (for example) has the right to exist as a Jewish state” — when he answers “yes” (as he will) — ask him why it’s “racist” when the BNP and European equivalents demand the same advantage for their nations.
It is not Griffin and the BNP whose policy is “to make one skin coulour/ethnicity/culture superior to another” — it is the other parties whose policy is to make White peoples endure an inferior treatment.

ther jewish state is not a racist ideal -because minorities are to be treated equally in a jewish state for example you can have arab , black etc cabinet members in the knesset. The jewish state is there for the self determination of the jewish people it is not there to take the rights of others., the BNP by contrast wont even allow black members into there party – how is that not racist.
As for whites they are not treated inferiorly – unfortunately due to the benefits system many white working class choose a life of benefits and crime, rather than work – and then complain when immigrants including white immigrants like poles -come to work -because they have a work ethic. I agree with controlled immigration -but until are benefits system is sorted which encourages white working class people to choose benefits over work – we cannot.
As for turkey – it shouldn’t be in the EU -because geographically most of turkey is in Asia .

Don’t be hypocrits over this just because Nick Griffin is saying it. the fact that Turky got away with the invasion of Cyprus was part of cold war politics, The US had bases in Turky and were quite happy to ignore this agression and the treadment of the Kurdis minority.

I disagree with Griffin on this.
The UK and Turkey were co-garantors to the independence of the island. Greece was wanting union with Cyprus (the old Enosis stuff which claimed British lives). When Turkey approached the UK on the matter, hoping for a united front, the UK (Labour government busy reducing our armed forces) reneged on it’s responsibility. Turkey did not.
