BNP “March on London” just weeks before 2010 election

British soldiers fighting in Afghanistan

BNP activists are planning to ”March on Westminster” on St George’s Day  2010 – just a few weeks before the General Election - to call on the government to repatriate British soldiers fighting in Afghanistan.

Since its founding the BNP has passionately advocated isolationism. The march is an indication that they see an opportunity to use their opposition to the war to tap into growing concern  in the heartland of Britain about our military commitments overseas.

BNP activists are organising for ex-servicemen to lead the march and put pressure on policy makers to “bring the troops home” and to stop what the leader of the group has called “[propping] up Zion.” Activists are expecting the support of sympathetic organisations such as Soldiers off the Street (Bill Murray, director of SOTS, has said that he will be present) and the BNP’s Scottish based veterans charity of choice - FEBA.

Some activists are planning to conceal their political identities to approach bona fide organisations to support the march. Reputable charities being approached include Combat Stress, a charity for soldiers suffering from the mental stresses of war, and Afghan Heroes, which was set up by the mothers of eight soldiers killed this year by Islamists in Helmand to help raise awareness of the conflict. The leader of the organising group  is believed to be Ian Holt. He has blogged on the BNP social network that he has written to Afghan Heroes and is intending to write to the Royal British Legion for support.

BNP election strategy

Our research into the BNP since the June 2009 elections has found that the neo-fascists are trying to carve out a populist electoral strategy in the lead up to the 2010 election and it is hoped that by tapping into growing voter scepticism towards the liberation of Afghanistan they will be able turn it into what one activist termed, “political capital”.

Public scepticism about our military’s roles overseas has been growing for some time and  it is getting worse.  According to a recent ICM/BBC poll, more than half (56 per cent) of Britons oppose the war against Al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan, while only about 37 per cent support it.

Now that his party has significant political representation in the European Parliament, Nick Griffin is desperate to show to voters that his party has a lot to offer and is capable of holding its own in a serious political arena come the next election.

BNP foreign policy

The BNP’s strategy for the region is to pull out and they deny that “AF-PAK” Islamism poses a threat to Britain. Peter Mullins, the BNP Defence spokesman, believes that British troops should not be ”spilling their blood in an American-directed foreign war”.

There is a clear distinction between the “anti-war” rhetoric of the Left, which aims to tap into concerns about “neo-colonialism” and wars on the “Muslim world”, and the BNP, who are tapping into the lack of enthusiasm for the war and it reveals how there is a real tiredness about the confict that exists in Middle England – as the BBC’s poll has already revealed. Despite the best efforts of the Rothermere and Murdoch press, the Establishment’s failure to clearly state why we must prevail in Afghanistan is allowing elected conspiratorial extremists to advocate reasonable arguments of retreat.

Politicians must do more than simply saying “more must be done for our troops”. Most reasonable people can see that better equipment and greater care for our brave soldiers is obviously needed. But, most importantly, all the parties (Labour and the Conservatives included) must reiterate that being in Afghanistan is in our national interest because the world, and so therefore Britain, is a safer place as a result of our presence in Afghanistan.

Nothing British comment

Nick Griffin believes that Islamism “can bring [the BNP] to power.” Nothing British see it as a threat and not a political opportunity. Islamism and Afghanistan are not political footballs and treating them as such only puts our national security and Britons lives at risk.

Post-script

British National Party activists have announced that the event will take place on 25th April 2010, this of course is not St George’s Day, which actually falls on the 23rd April.

RJ Mitchell, was is patriotic about calling Churchill a “f******g c**t”? Or believing that “whatever is good enough for Adolf is good enough for me”? Or for going out to Libya for money from a tyrant who was responsible for funding the IRA and murdering a policewoman? What is patriotic about supporting Ayatollah Khomeini?

    I welcome a response.

I’d like to think activists of other parties will join in the march. Although their parties merely pose as patriotic the rank and file membership of the Conservatives, Labour and Lib Dems includes many normal folk. And it would be a sad indictment of nothingbritish’s style of smear-politics if charities and organisations concerned with peace and with forces welfare chose not to participate in the peace march because some of the organisers are members of the BNP.

Sam Pauli said: “once again the bnp are exploiting joe publics sympathy by bringing out the khaki uniforms”

The BNP share the public’s outrage at all our sympathies re: 9/11 and 7/7 being exploited for empire – most especially the men and women in khaki.

    ***

“are trying to carve out a populist electoral strategy “,/i>

Even were that the case, so what? And I don’t think it’s true anyway. A nationalist party by definition opposes empire and colonialism, and since the natural tendency of all populations is nationalism they are also populistic.

    Hi Maurice

Sorry i took so long to get back with a reply, just got in from work,I’m no Historian when it comes to Winston Churchill but any leader would who was in Churchills posistion would of said and done the same type of speech.I remember when The Falklands war and i was in the T.A,we all volunteered to go,anyway we never.Margaret Thatcher done the same type of’ patriotic speech’,to get the people of Great Britain behind her(no one knew where the Falklands was). When it was over she destroyed our Car,Steel industries etc by selling us of to foreign companies i.e British Leyland=Honda.
I don’t know where you guys get this ‘Nazi’ thing from,i am NO nazi,i love my country and hope and pray that we can salvage some of our industry, whats left of it for our childrens future. What makes me cringe when you get these so called politicians who say’we need to get more apprenticeships for the young,IN WHAT INDUSTRY,WE HAVE’NT ANY.
Libya, well i’m not to hot on that subject either, all i can say about that subject is ‘its politics’ and was nothing to do with the public and our opinion,i would say that MACDONALDS is/was a fund raiser for the IRA and yet nothing was done or said. The IRA,caused a lot of Death in our country and yet today, they are MURDEROUS POLITICIANS,UNBELIEVABLE.We are under the same threat today(7/7 rings a bell) from the radical Muslims in this country, you may not like to believe it,i do and thats my freedom of choice,i don’t hate no one but it would be nice for us all to get on 1 day when they accept this is Great Britain and we have our laws and our laws only.
Iran, again another Muslim country trying to take over the world, you though Hitler was mad the radical Muslims are the same and i DON’T want it in my country, theres probably going to be another(weapons of mass destruction)reported to the public and more obscene publications from the abhorrent media.
We have, with the help of the Americans have interfered with other peoples countries and end up paying out extortionate sums of Tax payers money to try and put it right,IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH US,so lets keep out and if the Yanks want to do it,well let them but keep our soldiers here to protect this country,i.e our borders from bogus asylum seekers causing so much animosty with the British people.

    Thanks Maurice

It’s good that at least one party is prepared to make a stand on this. Neither Labour, nor the Tories, let alone military leaders, have yet been able to present a plausible case for our young men being sacrificed in Afghanistan. If the government truly wants to secure Britain against terrorism, their priority should be the internal threat. Our soldiers would be more profitably deployed at home, seeking out terrorists and their supporters within the moslem communities in Britain and within the huge but unknown population of illegal immigrants.

Jammed in the middle of this huge sentance is the bizarre statement:

“it is hoped that by tapping into growing voter scepticism towards the liberation of Afghanistan”

The “liberation of Afghanistan”? How exactly is Afghanistan being liberated? Are American and British troops the rightful heirs to Afghanistan? We’d be at least one step closer to the liberation of Afghanistan if British troops left. The British public is against the pointless occupation of Afghanistan, not the liberation of Afghanistan.

This reads like a piece knocked out by an admittedly rather good EFL student. Maybe someone should point out that the plural of party is parties and that there is no need for the apostrophe. This isn’t the first time that I have spotted such howlers, so I am curious to know what the writer’s first language is?

How is Britain “a safer place” thanks to our continuing occupation? Not very safe for the poor sods who have been killed, I would have thought. Furthermore, if you think that a bunch of inbred primitives can somehow find the wherewithal to mount an invasion of the UK from landlocked Afghanistan then you are really and truly giving it one with the wrist. They are fighting for their homes, just as we would if we were invaded.

So just explain the safer bit, will you? And tell us where you are from.

a number of years ago, i was all for the invasions of both iraq and afganistan. Upon reflection, while deposing Saddam broke that particular nexus in Iraq, it opened up a whole new can of worms, including sectarian violence between shiites, kurds and sunnis; it also has given room for al quida style militants to establish themselves. And while i find the Taliban to be particularly nasty and rooted in the dark ages, i am now of the opinion that trying to improve the lot of these people is an exercise in futility.
They are simply not ready for democracy and only respect the rule of the gun.
Strongmen in these type of countries have always ruled and this is what the people respect; they are ill prepared for the nuances of the Westminster system.
Having said that, it must also be stated that the Westminster system allows for the people to organise their vote in such a way that facilitates the formation of various political parties. It is called democracy. “NOTHINGBUTANTIBRITISH” seems not to recognise this process as evidenced by your continued attacks on the BNP and the right of ordinary britons to place their vote where they feel fit – without being derided as Nazis!

The BNP is similar to a political party in Australia that was hounded out of existence 10 years ago. The One Nation party attracted up to 20% of the vote in some areas (Queensland), but due to our preferential voting system and an unholy alliance of the major parties, they never were able to gain the traction that was needed to effect change.

i was trying to say, twice, before the nazis at “nothingbutantibritish” blocked me, that i am flabbergasted that so called defenders of democracy will stoop at nothing to prevent challengers to the status quo exercising their democratic voice.

in Australia a decade ago, a similar party to the BNP, called the One Nation party, managed to secure up to 20% of the vote at a general election. This 20% was mainly in Queensland, but they had a lot of sympathy around the country. The Liberal/National party, Labor, the Democrats and the media all conspired and denigrated One Nation as racist etc… ( a party that secured 20% mind you). Under our preferential voting system, the major parties all exchanged preferences with each other, which left one nation’s 20% as worthless, and they secured no seats in parliament. (they did manage to get 20% of seats in the queensland state election).

The point being, the major parties will cooperate with each other to prevent newcomers, and they will denigrate, castigate, defame and use any dirty trick available to do so. All with the complicity of lefty journalists.

But i guess you are seeing this in Britain right now

It does seem like a similar tactic is being used in this country.
So even if One Nation are silenced, the underlying problems haven’t gone away, they still need addressing.

    WTF
the underlying issues do indeed remain, but the pc brigade and the media have the populace cowed into submission, for fear of being branded racist etc,,, ( as witnessed by the inane rantings of sam the spam)

also the momentum was lost, especially due to in-fighting and the fact that there were too many chiefs and not enough indians, so they tore themselves apart. A lesson the BNP should learn from!
