The British National Party has caved in the legal case brought against them by the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
The EHRC agreed to adjourn its case following a confirmation from the BNP that it will accept changes its constitution and membership criteria. The BNP has also agreed to not accept any new members until its new constitution comes into force. The changes must be carried out as soon as reasonably practicable, and no later than three months from today.
A court order states that from 15th October 2009, until the new constitution comes into effect, BNP Chairman Nick Griffin will close the membership of the Party to all new membership applications and prevent the Party from accepting into membership any new member.
A BNP spokesman told Nothing British: “We have no comment to Nothing British”.
UPDATE
The BNP have released a statement saying they have “outflanked” the EHRC. The BNP are saying that the court accepted a proposal by Nick Griffin to freeze membership until it has debated its rules in November at its party’s conference. The BNP are saying the EHRC’s actions are “highly malicious and clearly politically motivated”.

I am seriously dubious about all of this. The EHRC is a quango to end them all and people will ask why this case was brought now and not at any time in the least few decades? I makes the state look like a bully, sand allows the BNP to present itself as the victim in all this.
It also allows the BNP to complain about other organisations that restrict their membership to certain ethnic groups.
Yes, I can smell trouble brewing over this one.

The whole thing was pointless anyway as the law was being changed, so why bring an action unless it was politically motivated & designed to bankrupt the BNP.
Even if they won the case, they would still have to change the membership criteria.
Most BNP supporters who comment aren’t bothered by this change anyway.
I am sure you can find die hard Tories who aren’t happy about ethnic minorities in their party or women in their clubs.

If this does occur I wondered if it would make for a good strategy, to kill off the BNP once and for all in this country, by promoting that as many asian, black, jewish and other races all join the BNP as fast as possible in order to outnumber the party’s white members?
I was thinking about starting up a website, facebook, myspace, twitter etc to that effect – encouraging as many non-white British citizens as possible to join and have their own, majority vote within the party’s direction and policy.
Would that make sense?

Im not Anti-white at all, i have a lovley white wife and if i count my friends of colour they really are outnumbered by white people. I couldnt think of anything worse than living in an Islamic enclave in the midlands.
The hairs on my neck stand up when i hear the first few bars of “I swear to thee my country”. I immerse myself in the culture of these islands, I feel immense pride at the acheivements of this tiny rock off the coast of Europe. I despair at the failure of successive governments to stop the social decline and fragmentation of society. I am apalled at the lack of good manners we just seem to accept as the norm.
