The many subjugated peoples of the world post-WWI wanted self-determination - some of us still do - and Wilson gave a great speech expressing his support for that ideal. He said that the non-Turkish peoples of the Ottoman Empire should be: "assured an undoubted security of life and an absolutely unmolested opportunity of autonomous development" -- it's what all people want, and it's very hard to argue that they shouldn't be given it, especially if, like NothingBritish and the establishment parties, you absolutely insist that certain peoples enjoy that advantage and just as absolutely insist others can't.
