You can’t make your mind up from clips as it is more edited than the ptrogramme that was probably edited before transmission.

It will be interesting to see how the beeb responds to an official complaint of bias. How can they deny it? Except for the question about Gately at the end it was all about Griffin’s past and character and the question of the BNP’s moral character (or their whiteness, as we’re talking about the beeb’s racial bias).

Even Diane Abbott has admitted he was stitched up, she fears it will allow the BNP to appeal for victim status. Simple answer: stop victimising them (it’s only ‘cos they’re white, anyway — that much is plain).

I would like to see a bit of equality, which is a popular concept amongst the chattering classes.
Even you would enjoy the sight of Tony Blair or maybe Maggie running the gauntlet of the lynch mob followed by a darn good hoofing on TV & a pasting in the press the following day?

  16. fellist says:

Thatcher buckled before tackling the issue; that’s how she became PM. Consider her actions in office as opposed to her beliefs:

“For the conservative, of course, the nation (like the family) has also a profound and positive social value; around its traditions and symbolism individuals with conflicting interests can be encouraged to cooperate and make sacrifices for the common good. Nationhood provides us with that most essential psychological anchor against the disorienting storms of change– an identity which gives us a sense of continuous existence. Consequently the man who shrugs off his nationality, like the man who discards his family background or (as G.K. Chesterton famously observed) who abandons his religious faith, is a potential danger to society for he is apt to become the victim of every half-baked ideology or passion he encounters.”

“Even the artificial states, which take in different nations with different languages and traditions, pay a kind of involuntary tribute to the power of nationhood by seeking to forge a new national identity. This was tried in the Soviet Union and in Yugoslavia; it is now being attempted in the European Union. Such enterprises cannot work, and generally break down amid acrimony and mutual hatred. But their very artificiality often inspires the ideologues to extremes of doctrinaire chauvinism, alternately ruthless and ridiculous, from Stalin’s mass deportation of peoples to the promotion of a European version of Dallas. It is therefore wrong to argue, as diplomats are still prone to do, that striving to keep large multinational, multicultural states together by all possible means makes for stability. It is, of course, quite possible that several distinct peoples will live within the frontiers of a single state for a variety of reasons – security, economic resources, geography, or lack of any alternative. Developing a liberal political and economic system is the best way to persuade them to do this, as Switzerland’s extraordinarily decentralized structure illustrates. But in the artificially constructed states–founded on an ideology (like the Soviet Union) or a mixture of diplomatic convenience and fear of greedy neighbors (like Yugoslavia)-it is all too likely that centralized power and the use of force will be relied upon to keep the unit together. And this–again as with the USSR and Yugoslavia-only increases national fervour and the aspiration to national independence on the part of component peoples.”

It’s only when you fight for the things that Thatcher defends in that quoite that you’ll get the kind of treatment Griffin endured – rather well – two nights ago. The reason for that is that only nationalism can defeat the globalist’s dream (a nightmare for us). Thatcher and Blair went along to get along. In Thatcher’s case it was clearly aginst her better judgement. All the more reson to respect Griffin.

  31. Duncan says:

Didn’t answer my question then Sam Pauli.

The fact is that the appearance of Nick Griffin on Question Time, and the subsequent hysterical publicity, will do the BNP no harm at all and, far from being ‘found out’, media exposure like this doesn’t give them the rope to hang themselves. In fact, it generally aids them.

If people want extremists to appear regularly on national television and in the mainstream press they should argue in favour of that point, not dishonestly pretend it has anything to do with combatting the repulsive views they hold.

nice one nick boy ,you ve actually increased the anti racist/fascist support

Is there any evidence at all to suggest this?

The immediate response to Question Time has been the bookies cutting the odds that the BNP will win at least one seat in the next General Election.

what a whole seat all to themselves

    Yes a whole seat.

This is a party which, a mere 10 years ago, had a social status equivalent to Ian Huntley and is now poised to win representation at every level of government in the UK.

This, however, doesn’t seem to concern you and you instead remain content to post childish abuse on the internet rather than engage in some sort of political discussion, which it increasingly seems you are incapable of doing.

Except that they haven’t. Unfortunately a recent YouGov poll found that 22% of the electorate would ’seriously consider’ voting for the BNP.

iam not really into all that political lieing and cheating thats seems to engulf middle england,so pardon me

I’m not accusing you of lying. I’m accusing you of not really knowing what you’re talking about.

i just hate the racist/fascists that are the bnp

That’s fine. In fact, I think it’s commendable.

However, doing something about the disturbing rise of the BNP requires more than disliking them and posting ridiculously pessimistic assestments about their strength and prospects for success.

I was surprised to learn that Warsi was in fact defeated by about 5000 votes when she stood for election in Dewsbury in 2005 and that she was then fast tracked into the House of Lords by way of being made a baroness. I thought she was an elected politicain! No wonder she appeared to be so unsure of her facts on QT. She was so unpleasant to Nick Griffin.
I’ve really gone off the Conservatives (I thought they just might be better than Labour) because of her and the all-women selection lists. They really are blue-liebour!

  42. Duncan says:

    I’m glad you asked!

Put simply, I think we can attribute the rise of the BNP primarily to rising disillusionment with the mainstream political parties, particularly with the Labour Party, as they have moved toward the centre ground.

This has left a political vacuum in many communities up and down the country and the BNP is filling it with a brand of populist local politics coupled with a harsher kind of xenophobia we’ve seen pushed by the mainstream press and major parties in recent years.

The way to defeat them is, therefore, to fill the political vacuum that exists at a grassroots level.

“particularly with the Labour Party, as they have moved toward the centre ground.”

    You can’t be serious!
The last thing they have done is moved to the centre ground!
The media & mainstream parties collude with this, there are safety valves allowing people to vent their feelings but to go nowhere politically.
It is not centre ground politics to lie on a massive scale about what we now know to be true.
The BNP said mass immigration was being used destroy opposition & make the country the most multi racial without asking the electorate.
That has been now admitted by an insider.
