BNP helps Rochdale bird sanctuary

Thursday, August 27th, 2009
bird sanctuaryThe BNP have helped bail-out a cash-strapped Lancashire bird sanctuary in a bizarre but eye-catching example of the sort of social action that party leaders are hoping will help normalise the BNP’s ragged image.

It is reported that “The Three Owls” sanctuary in Rochdale, which costs £10,000 per month, originally contacted Rochadale Council after donations plummeted in the recession. Explaining why he accepted assistance from neo-fascists, Nigel Fowler, Trustee, said, “We do not discriminate against anyone who wants to support Three Owls Bird Sanctuary … we are grateful to anyone who wants to help us in our fight for survival.”

Saving Britain’s birds is a commendable objective but the Trustees of The Three Owls sanctuary, and anyone else working with the BNP like this, should realise they are helping racists and extremists wangle their way into the fabric of British life.

The BNP’s poisonous influence on the British way of life is reported in a number of recent incidents reported on this site: racist bullying in schools, a revival in football hooliganism, reports of a violent attack on a Moslem cleric and, more generally, a new strain of intolerance in the workplace and in British politics.

Think again, Rochdale bird lovers, and give the racists their money back.

Violent effects the BNP has on communities

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Football riotOver the last 24 hours, two disturbing acts of violence have been linked to the BNP. Firstly, a Muslim community leader was abducted at knifepoint. He was bundled him into a car and the attackers threatened his life unless he stopped running prayer sessions in a community hall that has been the target of a BNP campaign.

And secondly, undercover TV reporter Donal MacIntyre whose exposé of the Chelsea Headhunter thugs helped convict five yobs, blamed the West Ham football riots on the BNP’s recent sucess. He said: “The election of the BNP has given a licence and respectability to some very unacceptable views and unacceptable behaviour. Scouring the fan web sites has indicated that.”

The first case, which occurred in Loughton, was preceded by the victim’s house being fire-bombed.  Noor Ramjanally runs a small muslim prayer group, of less than 10 people, in a local community centre. Soon after starting the group, he recieved anonymous hate mail and also saw the start of a BNP campaign claiming Murray hall will be turned into a mosque and warning in other parts of east London that “the Islamification process is almost complete”. The BNP says: “We’ll do all in our power to prevent Islam creeping into our town.” BNP group council leader says she approved the leaflet before its release.

Just a few days ago, on the 24th August, Ramjanally was abducted by two white men wielding a knife, bundled into the boot of a car, driven to Epping Forest and again threatened if he does not stop running his prayer group. Councillor Pat Richardson, leader of the BNP group on the local council, said her party was not behind the attacks on Ramjanally. “Firebombing is not a British method. A brick through the window is a British method, but firebombing is not a way of showing displeasure,” she said.

While it may turn out that none of the perpetrators are influential BNP personnel or even affiliated with the BNP, Nothing British agrees with Donal MacIntyre’s view. The BNP preach a message of hate, extremism and intimidation (the leaflet mentioned above demonstrates this well). Their propaganda creates mountains out of molehills, unnecessarily riling up ordinary people which encourages  unacceptable views and behaviour.

**Electoral Commission finds the BNP guilty of “unacceptable” rule breach**

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

logo_electoralcommissionToday, the British National Party has discovered it is to be fined for failing to report its donations and accounts to the Electoral Commission.

Under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, parties are required to report donations on a quarterly basis to the watchdog, and must also submit their annual reports and accounts.

Electoral Commission chief executive Peter Wardle described the BNP’s breach of the rules was described as “unacceptable”.

“We have not yet received a donation return for this quarter from the British National Party,” he said.

“This comes on top of their failure to deliver their latest annual statement of accounts to the Commission.

“This is unacceptable and the party will be issued with fines for both reporting failures.

“We will also be assessing the systems they have in place to ensure compliance with the law.”

Also this week, the BNP learned it was to be taken to court by the Equality and Human Rights Commission over claims its membership criteria breaches human rights law.
