Blunkett calls on BNP to disown party supporter’s attack on Queen

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Rt. Hon. David Blunkett MP has called on the British National Party and Mark Collett, its General Election candidate in Sheffield Brightside, to distance themselves from foul-mouthed remarks aimed at the Queen made by a BNP blogger and supporter.

Yesterday, Nothing British exposed the BNP-supporting Green Arrow blog, run by Paul Morris, for calling Her Majesty a “liar and traitor to her own people” and called for “treason” and “sedition”.

Mr Blunkett told NB:

“Having maligned Winston Churchill and lauded Hitler to the rooftops, the BNP have now stooped to obscenities aimed at the Queen. They have managed in one hit to disavow the head of state and display a total lack of patriotism.”

The former Home Secretary’s comments come after NB contacted the BNP’s official press office asking them to condemn the remarks. Rather than do so, the BNP’s press officer called us “low-lifes” and “unpatriotic”. We gave the BNP two other chances later that afternoon to distance themselves by emailing them and Nick Griffin MEP, via his European Parliamentary email. We have received no reply from either.

Mr Blunkett then gave a direct challenge to Collett – who once called Sir Winston Churchill a “f****** c***” - to distance himself from the Green Arrow. Mr Blunkett said: “Given his own unbelievable views, I wonder whether Mark Collett might wish to make it clear as to whether he agrees with his BNP colleague?”

The BNP claims it is patriotic, but their refusal to offer a rapid condemnation of the GA’s remarks about some who has loyally served this country all her life is a disgrace.

The BNP have refused to distance themselves from the GA's remarks

UPDATE

Romford MP Andrew Rosindell has just contacted Nothing British to add his thoughts on the BNP’s refusal to condemn the GA’s unpatriotic and disgraceful remarks about the Queen:

“I am absolutely appalled at the despicable language used by the cowardly author of the Green Arrow blog.  Her Majesty The Queen has spent every day of her reign serving our nation and I am frankly sickened that someone could speak in such an offensive manner about our Head of State.

Her Majesty is treasured by the people of the United Kingdom, throughout the Commonwealth and the entire world.   This revolting tirade against our Monarch strikes me as being nothing short of treason itself.  It is perfectly clear to me that there is nothing British about the B.N.P.  Attacking The Queen herself in this way proves that!

The B.N.P.’s refusal to condemn these remarks clearly show how out of touch they are with the people of this country.”

BNP blog condemns the contribution of Muslim servicemen

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Ministry of Defence

A racist website with close links to the BNP has called Islam the “Cult of the Dead Paedophile” and condemned the contribution made by British Muslim servicemen to Britain’s Armed Forces.

The Green Arrow web site, run by the BNP supporter Paul Morris, writes that “no true” servicemen would want to serve with “a bunch of moslems whose loyalty is not towards our country but to a dead pervert”.

The Green Arrow (GA) writes that front line soldiers should be concerned about serving with Muslims because they might get fragged or shot by their own side. On serving with Muslims on the front line the GA wrote: “I would be thinking fragging and friendly fire”.

And in a reference to the Muslim service personnel in the RAF, the GA wrote that they couldn’t be trusted because they come from a relgion that believes, “the primary role of a plane is to be flown into a building”.

The GA’s un-patriotic and inflammatory blog was a reaction to the news that the Armed Forces have formed a support network for Britain’s Muslim servicemen and women. The association, which aims to improve social cohesion with Britain’s Islamic communities, has been wholeheartedly supported by Britain’s top military brass.

Defence Minister Kevan Jones MP told Nothing British: “I am extremely proud of the diversity within our Armed Forces and I recognise the contribution, dedication and sacrifice of all our personnel. Muslim personnel, many of whom I have met stationed in the UK and abroad, are serving with distinction and currently hold a number of senior positions.”

General Sir David Richards, Chief of the General Staff and a former commander in Afghanistan, said: “I am a huge supporter of the creation of the Armed Forces Muslim Association. It reflects the growing numbers, importance and relevance of the Muslim soldiers, sailors and airmen serving the United Kingdom with such distinction today and, I have no doubt, in the future.”

L/Cpl Jabron Hashmi died fighting in Afghanistan

Muslims have been fighting in Britain’s Armed Forces since 1757 when a number joined the East India Company. During World War Two many Muslims gave their lives in the fight against Nazism, including people like SOE agent Noor Inayat Khan GC MBE, one of only three women to be awarded the George Cross. Khan was tortured to death in 1944 by Gestapo agents in France.

In recent conflicts British Muslims have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. In 2006 Lance Corporal Jabron Hashmi, a 24-year-old military intelligence specialist, was killed while fighting in Afghanistan against Al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

One could be forgiven for thinking that the GA is a lunatic and on the outer fringes of the BNP. However, in December last year he was invited as a “welcome guest” of Bridgend BNP. Morris’s blog is extremely popular amongst BNP internet users and has been used as a intermediary by sympathisers such as Bill Murray, former secretary of the Welsh BNP and Director of Soldiers off the Street, in their quarrels with anti-BNP campaigners over their links to the extremist party.

UPDATE

Liam Fox MP, Conservative Shadow Defence Secretary, has told Nothing British: All members of our Armed Forces are hugely valued regardless of their gender, race or religion. We should always celebrate the contribution they make to our national security and our national wellbeing.

Nothing British comment:

If you are prepared to give your life to help protect Britain and her national interests you are a welcome addition to our society. The Green Arrow’s crude and disrespectful remarks are un-patriotic, dangerous and divisive.

SOTS Update: Nothing British responds to SOTS

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Below is an email we sent to Bill Murray today asking him to clarify a few key questions about his relationship with the BNP and SOTS.

Dear Mr Murray,

Clarification of issues concerning Soldiers off the Street

In your statement released through the “Green Arrow” web site on the 7th October 2009 (http://www.thegreenarrow.co.uk/index.php/writers/arrow-straight/303-soldiers-off-the-street-and-nothing-british) you say that on Friday 2nd October 2009 “false statements” were made about you and SOTS via our blog (http://www.nothingbritish.com/10/nb-reports-new-bnp-front-to-charities-commission/). According to the statement, you set up SOTS after leaving the British National Party and that you have never hidden the fact that you are a former member of the BNP.

The statement also says that all of these facts could have been clarified if we had contacted SOTS prior to making our announcement, which indeed we did so via telephone (on the 14th September 2009 and 23rd September 2009).

Some questions that we feel need clarifying:

1. You state that you set up SOTS when you left BNP what was the actual date of your resignation from the party?
2. How did you resign from your membership of the BNP? (telephone, email or letter?)
3. Have you applied to become a charity?
4. Are you a member of any other organisations associated with the BNP?
5. When were you last in touch with the BNP?
6. When was the last time you were in contact with Nick Griffin, leader of the BNP, or other senior members of the party including Brian Mahoney, regional organiser in Wales, and Simon Darby, deputy leader?
7. What efforts have you made to recruit volunteers outside of the BNP arena?

Further questions on the suitability of SOTS and its role as a carer for vulnerable veterans

1. How many medically qualified staff do you have working at SOTS?
2. How many ex-servicemen have you have working at SOTS?

Thank you for taking the time to read this email and I look forward to hearing your response.

Yours sincerely,

Maurice Cousins

NB – We shall be posting this email onto our blog.
